PALAKURA PULUSU

INGREDIENTS

 

 

    • Baby Palak / Spinach - 1 pack
    • Chana dal - 2 cups
    • Tamarind puree - 2 tsp
    • Salt - 2 1/2 tsp
    • Redchillipowder - 2 tsp
    • Turmeric - a pinch of it
    • Garlic pods - 3 nos
    • Oil - 1 tbsp
    • Curry leaves - 10 nos
    • Water - 3 cups
    • Bottle gourd - 10 pieces
    • Greenchillies - 4 -5 nos
    • Besan - 2 tbsp

    • Wash chana dal and add 3 cups of water to it.
    • Wash baby spinach as it is and and strain away excess water.
    • Cut Bottle gourd and add a few pieces and green chillies to the dal and also add spinach to it .
    • Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
    • Now put tadka also include chopped garlic pods in tadka only and fry to golden red. Add the salt , redchilli powder and turmeric to the cooked dal along with tamarind puree .
    • Add the cooked dal to the tadka and mix well add curry leaves .
    • Take 2 tbsp of besan and add mix it to a cup of water. Pour it on the pulusu and mix well .
    • Cook for 5 min and put off from flame.
    • Serve hot with rice or chapathi ..

    Note : Ingredients mentioned serves for 6  people . So pls reduce the quantities as required by you .

    how r u?
    i want to try palakura pulusu. In the ingredients u mentioned garlic pods,but u didn’t mention when to add garlic pods.i guess garlic pods should be added to the tadka right?
    be seeing the picture i figured it out. let me know the details

    I m good how r u ? I had missed it out as it was to be included in tadka. U got it right .Thats it !!!

    i am good.thanks for your clarification. my mom used to make this with toor dal.

    hi lakshmi
    i tried palakura recipe yesterday.it is very tasty.
    but i got one doubt.should we cook chana dal until it becomes soft? i pressure cooked chana dal for 3 whistles as u mentioned.but it is not that soft. so let me know the details

    Yeah Neeharika , It should be half cooked . Depends on our taste basically , if want we can make it soft also .
