POTLAKAYA KURA / SNAKE GOURD CURRY

INGREDIENTS

 

  • Snake gourd - 1pack frozen
  • Dry grated coconut - 1 cup
  • Sesame seeds - 1/2cup
  • Poppy seeds - 1/4 cup
  • Salt - 1 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric - a pinch of it
  • Curry leaves - 10 nos
  • Redchillies - 4 nos
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tbsp
  • Chana dal - 1/2 tbsp
  • Mustard - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin - 1 tbsp

 

PREPARATION

 

        

 

  •  Roast and grind poppy seeds and sesame seeds to fine powder and add dry grated coconut mix well and keep aside.
  • Microwave cook snakegourd for 5 - 6 min .
  • Check if the snake gourd pieces are cooked well.
  • Incase they are not cook for another 2 min.
  • In case you are using fresh snake gourd cooking time will be less depending on the microwave.
  • Heat oil in a pan and put tadka . ie put mustard once they sizzle add cumin fry to red and then add uraddal and chana dal.
  • Fry the tadka to golden red and add red chillies and curry leaves once they become red , add the cooked snake gourd pieces.
  • Mix well and add salt , turmeric and the powder which we set aside .
  • Mix well and cook for 5 min.
  • Serve hot with rice..
