IDLI AND SAMBAR
INGREDIENTS
- Urad dal - 2 cups
- Idli Rawa ( Cream of Rice ) - 4 cups
- Salt - 1 1/2 tsp
- Baking Soda - 1/4 tsp
- Water - 2 - 4 cups
- PREPARATION
- Soak 2 cups of Urad dal or minapa pappu for 6 - 8 hrs in the day .
- Once the dal becomes soft take 4 cups of idli rawa and soak in water.
- Drain away water from the top and set squeeze the extra water and set a side.
- Grind the dal very soft by adding water gradually and mix the rawa to it .
- Set it to ferment over night .
- In the morning mix the idli batter well adding baking soda and salt and a cup of water .
- Take the idli mould and apply little oil and pour the batter .
- Steam cook for about 20 min for the whole stand of Idli moulds .
- Once they are cooked , serve hot with sambar or karappodi .
- Cooking time 20 min . Serves -4 -5 persons
- Cook on little high flame for 10 min and then lower to medium.
