MUNAGA KAYA / DRUMSTICK SAMBAR

INGREDIENTS

  • Munaga Kaya - 5 nos
  • Tamarind puree - 1 tsp
  • Tuar dal -2 cups
  • Salt - 11/2 tsp
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Cumin - 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek - 1/2tsp
  • Turmeric - 1/4tsp
  • Sambar powder -2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 5 nos
  • Coriander - 1/4 bunch
  • Garlic pods - 2 nos
  • Redchillies - 2 nos
  • Oil - 1 tbsp

PREPARATION

    

 

  • Wash and cut drumsticks or munaga kaya to one finger length  pieces  .
  • Wash dal and add water and pressure cook both for 3 whistles .
  • Heat a pan and put tadka and add chopped garlic to the tadka .
  • Now add munaga kaya pieces cooked medium soft .
  • Mix well and add water well mixed with tamarind puree.
  • Add curry leaves ,turmeric , salt and sambar powder and bring it to boil.
  • Now add cooked mashed tuar dal  to the boiled water .
  • Bring it boil after cooking it for 5min.
  • Serve hot with rice ..
  • Preparation time - 25 min  Serving size - 6 - 8 persons.
