  • Moond dal - 4 cups
  • Oil - for deep frying
  • Salt - 11/2 tbsp
  • Green Chillies - 10 nos
  • Ginger - 1 fingerlength piece
  • Coriander - 1/2 bunch
  • Onions - 2 nos
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp


  • Soak moong dal in hot water for 4 hrs.
  • Grind it into a fine batter of semi solid consistency adding little water at a time.
  • Grind green chillies, salt and garlic along with coriander and add to the batter.
  • Heat oil.
  • Chop onions and add to the batter along with turmeric.,
  • Mix the ingredients well and make small vada on your hand dipping it in water and leave them in the hot oil.
  • Fry them to golden red.
  • Remove and serve with sauce .
  • Preparation time - 45 min.
  • Serving size - 25 persons.
