SORAKAYA ( KADDU )PACCHADI / CHUTNEY

INGREDIENTS

  • Sorakaya - 1 cup
  •  Tamarind - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal-1 tbsp
  • Chana dal - 1tbsp
  • Asfoetida - 1/4 tsp
  • Garlic pods -2 nos
  • Green chillies - 4 -5 nos
  • Coriander - 1/4 bunch
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - 11/2 tsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Redchillies - 5 -6 nos

PREPARATION

     

  • Cut sorakaya into fine pieces of small size and set aside along with green chillies split along the length into two.
  • Put popu or  tadka and add the garlic pieces to that and allow it to cool completely.
  • Parallely  cook the sorakaya  and green chilly pieces soft enough adding turmeric and salt .
  • Once they are cooked allow them to cool completely.
  • Then grind the popu or tadka into a fine powder and then add the cooked sorakaya pieces and a tsp of tamarind puree and chopped coriander.
  • This chutney is tasty and can be served with rice or chapathi.
  • Preparation time - 25min . Serves - 4 persons.
